Does a Realtor Need Their Own Website?

Most brokerages give agents a profile page, and plenty of agents get by with Instagram and a link in bio. So is it worth having a website of your own? For most agents who want to build a long-term business, we think the answer is yes. Here is why, and what a good agent website actually needs.

Your brokerage page is not really yours

A brokerage profile looks like every other agent at the company, and it disappears the day you switch brokerages. Your own website, on your own domain, goes with you. Every review, blog post and bit of search traffic you build stays with your name, not your brokerage's.

Social media is rented space

Instagram and Facebook are fantastic for staying top of mind, but you do not control the algorithm, and you do not own your followers. A website is the home base that social media points back to. It is where people go to check you out before they reach out.

People search before they call

Even when someone gets your name from a friend, they will almost always look you up first. A polished website with your story, your reviews and your local expertise makes that first impression for you. When people search things like "best realtor in [your city]" or "moving to [your town]," a site with helpful local pages gives you a chance to show up.

What a good agent website needs

  • A clear about page that tells your story and shows your face. People hire people.

  • Reviews and testimonials from real clients.

  • Community or neighborhood pages that answer what relocating buyers want to know: schools, parks, commute and the best local spots.

  • Buyer and seller resources like guides, checklists or a home value request.

  • Easy ways to contact you on every page, including a simple form and a way to book a call.

  • Mobile-friendly design, since most visitors will be on their phone.

  • Basic SEO such as page titles, descriptions and local keywords so search engines and AI tools understand who you serve and where.

Does it need to be complicated?

No. Many of the agent websites we build are clean, simple sites that make a great first impression, connect to the agent's social media and newsletter, and make it easy to get in touch. You can add listing search, blog posts and more community pages over time.

The bottom line

A website will not replace your relationships or your social media. It ties them together, gives you something that is fully yours and helps new people find and trust you faster.
